WSO2 has the a la carte concept, where all WSO2 products are offered as pluggable components on the WSO2 core engine which is the Carbon application server. Check wso2.org for a complete overview.

So if we want to have a WSO2 server with a fully functional ESB environment, there are 2 ways to set this up

Install the WSO2 core engine, Carbon server, and from there use the update tool to select which components you want to install.

Running WSO2 on Java 7

Here is simple and easy workaround on how to get rid of the error message that you get when installing WSO2 on a Java 7 server.

When starting WSO2 against JDK 7 the server exits with the following message:

[ERROR] CARBON is supported only on JDK 1.6 and higher

To solve this problem open wso2server.bat or wso2server.sh
Search for 1.6 inside the file.…

Using java.io.File class on a Windows 7 machine

Recently I was confronted with the following error stacktrace while calling a stateless session bean deployed on Glassfish.

java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:testresource.xml (A required privilege is not held by the client)

The problem was that my Windows 7 user account on my local machine didn’t had sufficient rights to write files on my local C drive.…

Google Calendar API v.3 – Add a Calendar

Adding a Calendar with the API version 3 became a lot easier.
We don’t have to parse any http queries any more.
We can simple work with objects just as we like it.

To create a calendar object we can do the following:
com.google.api.services.calendar.model.Calendar calendar = new com.google.api.services.calendar.model.Calendar(); calendar.setSummary("My test Calendar"); calendar.setDescription("This calendar was created with the API v3."); calendar.setTimeZone("Europe/Amsterdam"); calendar.setLocation("Amsterdam");

If you are using 2-LO you can add the Calendar with the following code:
Calendars calendarList = calendarService.calendars(); com.google.api.services.calendar.Calendar.Calendars.Insert insert = calendarList.insert(calendar); insert.getUnknownKeys().put("xoauth_requestor_id", "user email to add the calendar to"); calendar = insert.execute();

If you are not using 2-LO you can add the Calendar much more simple:
Calendars calendarList = calendarService.calendars(); calendarList.insert(calendar).execute();

We can also extend the Calendar with some more options:
CalendarListEntry calendarListEntry = calendarService.calendarList().get(calendar.getId()).execute(); calendarListEntry.setHidden(Boolean.FALSE); calendarListEntry.setSelected(Boolean.TRUE); calendarService.calendarList().update(calendarListEntry.getId(), calendarListEntry).execute();;
